Sabooj Sathi is a Government of West Bengal flagship scheme under which bicycles are distributed free of cost to eligible students studying in Classes IX to XII in government-run and government-aided schools. Launched in 2015, the initiative enhances mobility, boosts student confidence (especially among girl students), and provides an eco-friendly, healthy mode of transportation to school.
Primary Purpose:To distribute bicycles free of cost to eligible students in Classes IX to XII to improve mobility, encourage school attendance, reduce dropouts, and promote continuation into higher education.

How Students Receive Their Bicycle
Sabooj Sathi is implemented through the school and education administration system. Eligible students are enrolled and verified by their respective school authorities through the official Banglar Shiksha / Sabooj Sathi portal. Bicycles are procured by the nodal agency (West Bengal SC/ST Development & Finance Corporation) and distributed directly at the school premises.
Do Students Need to Apply Online?
No individual public application is required. Distribution is organized institutional-level through schools. Students should contact their school administration regarding distribution batches and records.
