Kanyashree Prakalpa is a flagship conditional cash transfer initiative designed to improve the life and status of adolescent girls in West Bengal. By offering annual financial incentives and a one-time grant upon turning 18, it promotes continuous education, discourages child marriage, and fosters female empowerment.
Primary Purpose:To prevent early marriage of girls and ensure their education through secondary, higher-secondary, and higher education.

Benefit Amount:₹1,000 per year

One-Time Grant (K2)
Benefit Amount:₹25,000 one-time
A one-time grant of ₹25,000 given when an unmarried girl turns 18, provided she is engaged in education, sports, or vocational training.
Core Eligibility Criteria:
- Unmarried girl turning 18 on or after 1st April of the scheme year, and below 19.
- Enrolled in a recognised institution of higher education, vocational training, or sports training.
- Resident of West Bengal.
K3pathway
K3 Higher Education Pathway (Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means)
Benefit Amount:₹2,000 – ₹2,500 / month
A scholarship pathway for K2 recipients pursuing postgraduate studies in Arts, Commerce, or Science in universities/colleges across West Bengal under the SVMCM scheme.
Core Eligibility Criteria:
- Must have registered for Kanyashree and possess a valid Kanyashree ID (K2 recipient).
- Pursuing regular full-time Postgraduate degree (M.A., M.Sc., M.Com.) in West Bengal universities.
- Secured at least 45% marks in Graduation for Science and Arts/Commerce streams.
- No annual family income ceiling applies for K3 Kanyashree recipients under SVMCM rules.

- Savings bank account in the girl’s own name
Not Eligible:
- Girls who are married before reaching the age of 18.
- Girls who have dropped out and are not currently enrolled in any recognized educational institution.
- Applicants above 19 years of age for K2 component.
Family Income Condition
The Government of West Bengal has completely waived the family income ceiling for Kanyashree Prakalpa to make it universally accessible for all eligible girl students.

Collect Form K1 (Green) or Form K2 (Blue) free of cost from the school, madrasah, or college where the student is currently enrolled.
