Rajya Khadya Suraksha Yojana (RKSY)
রাজ্য খাদ্য সুরক্ষা যোজনা (RKSY-I ও RKSY-II)
Quick Summary & Overview
Rajya Khadya Suraksha Yojana (RKSY) is a state food-security scheme launched by the Government of West Bengal through the Department of Food & Supplies. The objective of RKSY is to provide food security and nutritional support to economically weaker and vulnerable households who are not fully covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Food grains are distributed through the Public Distribution System (PDS) and Fair Price Shop network. The scheme maintains two distinct categories based on household vulnerability: • RKSY-I: Category for more vulnerable households. Beneficiaries receive 5 kg rice per person per month Free of Cost. • RKSY-II: Category for comparatively better-off eligible households covered under RKSY. Beneficiaries receive 2 kg rice per person per month Free of Cost. Important Current Entitlement Rule: Benefits are strictly based on current Government of West Bengal notifications: RKSY-I receives 5 kg rice per person per month (Free of Cost) and RKSY-II receives 2 kg rice per person per month (Free of Cost). Rice is provided free of cost. Old PMGKAY temporary allocations or expired pandemic tables are not part of current RKSY benefits. Eligibility & Exclusions: Applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal belonging to economically weaker sections. Priority is given to vulnerable and deprived families. Government employees, higher-income earners, income-tax payers, and households possessing significant assets, vehicles, or large landholdings meeting official exclusion criteria are excluded from RKSY benefits. Application & Verification: Eligible residents can apply for inclusion under RKSY through official West Bengal Food & Supplies Department ration-card channels. Applicable ration-card applications are subject to Government enquiry and categorization. Department rules provide for applicable applications to be disposed of within 30 days from application date (after necessary enquiry and verification). Submitting an application does not guarantee card issuance.
