1. Who Can Apply?

Full Criteria

Applicant must have attained the age of 18 years on the date of application
Applicant must be unmarried on the date of submitting the application
The proposed marriage must be her first marriage
Born in West Bengal OR resident for last 5 years OR parents are permanent residents of West Bengal
Family annual income must not exceed ₹1.50 lakh (as certified under official FAQ)
Prospective groom must have attained the age of 21 years on the date of application
Active bank account in which the applicant is the sole account-holder (supports NEFT)

3. Step-by-Step Application Process

Obtain Official Rupashree Form

Download the official form from rupashree.wb.gov.in or obtain it from your local Block Development Office (BDO), Sub-Divisional Office (SDO), or Municipality.

Fill In Accurate Details

Complete all sections accurately: personal details, groom information, family income, residential history, and sole bank account details.

Attach Required Supporting Documents

Attach self-attested copies of age proofs, marriage proof, income/residence certificates, bank passbook, and coloured photographs.

Submit to Local BDO / Municipality Office

Submit the completed application package to the local BDO / SDO / Municipality or designated Bangla Sahayata Kendra (BSK) well before the marriage date.

Administrative Enquiry & Sanction

Designated field inquiry officers verify documents and legal marriage eligibility before approving the ₹25,000 grant.

Direct NEFT Benefit Credit & Tracking

Upon sanction, ₹25,000 is credited directly into the bride’s bank account via NEFT. Status can be tracked online using Applicant ID.

Important Warnings & Advice

•The benefit is a one-time financial grant of ₹25,000; it is not a monthly payment or repayable loan.
•Applicant bride must be at least 18 years old and unmarried at application; prospective groom must be at least 21 years old.
•The proposed marriage must strictly be the applicant’s first marriage.
•Family annual income must not exceed ₹1.50 lakh according to the official scheme FAQ.
•Bank account must be in the bride’s own name as sole account-holder (joint accounts not permitted).
•Rupashree is entirely distinct from Kanyashree (education grants) and Lakshmir Bhandar (monthly assistance).
