3. Step-by-Step Application Process

Check Village Piped Water Supply Plan at Gram Panchayat

Visit your local Gram Panchayat or Paani Samiti to check the ongoing piped water scheme schedule for your habitation.

Household Survey & Pipeline Layout by PHED Engineers

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) engineers survey the village, map houses, and lay distribution mains.

Installation of Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC)

Trained plumbers connect the household line to the street water main and install a functional standpost/tap inside the premises.

Water Supply Testing, Disinfection & Regular Delivery

The system is tested for 55 lpcd flow pressure, disinfected with chlorine, and regular daily water supply commences.

Report Water Leakage or Quality Issues to Paani Samiti / PHED

In case of pipeline leakage, low pressure, or turbidity, report to the local Paani Samiti or State PHED grievance portal.

4. After Applying & Status Tracking

Following submission, your application and submitted documents are verified by the designated block or department officials. Processing typically completes within 15 to 30 working days.

Important Warnings & Advice

•JJM provides drinking water (55 lpcd) through household taps; it is NOT for agricultural farm irrigation.
•In West Bengal, piped water infrastructure is executed on the ground in synergy with "Jal Swapno" by PHED.
•JJM does NOT provide cash grants; it installs functional physical water tap infrastructure.
•Village Water & Sanitation Committees (Paani Samitis) must have at least 50% women representation.
•Live village-wise and district-wise connection progress is tracked on jaljeevanmission.gov.in.
